Concrete Cutting Division

CDS London is an expert in all matters relating to concrete cutting, drilling and sawing. Services include:

Chasing

CDS London offers a comprehensive chasing service to all types of brick work, block work, concrete and screed. Chasing is effected by using a hand-held electric grinder with a diamond blade, with the concrete or brick being removed using a hammer drill or small breaker.

Hydraulic Bursting

Bursting offers a noise free, quiet and efficient method of controlled demolition especially in confined space areas. Large concrete structures such as foundations, pillars, bearers and concrete walls can be removed easily and effectively, by installing hydraulic bursters in pre-drilled holes and expanded to induce controlled cracking of the structure.

Concrete Crunching

Concrete crushing is an extremely efficient method of reducing concrete to rubble and virtually emission free, reducing noise to a minimum. Unlike concrete bursting there is no need for diamond drilled holes to be pre-drilled throughout the structure. Instead, jaws are applied to the free or open edge of a concrete structure, with the hydraulic power force of the jaws closing to crush the concrete. The process is repeated until the whole structure is removed. This technique is ideal for heavy internal and external structures and due to the non-percussive nature of this process structural integrity is not affected.

Diamond Wire Sawing

Diamond wire sawing is ideal when faced with removing, large heavily reinforced sections of concrete in restricted areas such as bridges, culverts and columns. The wire is positioned over the pulleys and fed through pre-drilled holes in the concrete that is being cut back over the drive pulley. The wire saw easily handles the thickest sections of all construction materials. The wire can be of almost any length and is joined by special crimps. Its cutting rate can exceed 1 sqm an hour and leaves straight smooth cuts with no damage to remaining structure.

Ring Sawing

Mainly used in areas where wall and floors saws cannot gain access or for single window and door openings. Hydraulically powered or hand-held, the ring saw will cut up to 250mm in depth with diamond blades. The ring saw differs from other saws because the blade is not put on a spindle, the blade has no centre and it rotates on a roller system.

Diamond Track Sawing

The fastest and most precise method for creating openings in vertical concrete structures, used to cut door and window openings through walls and floors. A track supports a travelling sled and circular diamond steel blade. The track is bolted to the concrete surface, such as a wall or other steep incline. The sled travels backwards and forwards along the track powered by a hydraulic or electric motor, with a cut being made as the blade makes a series of passes over the surface area. This cutting method can be used to cut openings of up to 1005mm depth.

Diamond Floor Sawing

Floor sawing - used to cut any horizontal flat concrete surfaces, in any location. Floor sawing is quick, efficient and often used when surface repairs need to be made in a short space of time. A circular blade is mounted on a spindle and powered by a diesel or petrol engine, with the operator walking behind the unit as it moves along a flat surface. The diamond blade is capable of cutting up to 500mm depth.

Diamond Drilling

A quiet, non-percussive way of forming holes from 6mm- 1200mm in diameter in reinforced concrete structures. The result is free from spoiling and requires no or very little reinstatement, with water control being used in highly sensitive areas.

Stitch drilling can be used to form large or abnormal sized openings in walls and floors. Stitch drilling entails a series of 107mm diameter holes over-lapped by approximately 10mm to form the required shaped opening. This method can also be used to create larger diameter holes of 1.0m and greater.

Diamond drilling motors vary in size and power depending on the diameter of the hole required. Drills can be powered by several different power sources, including: 110 volt electric, 3-phase high frequency electric or hydraulic motors which can be driven by either petrol or diesel power packs.

There are also various types and sizes of drilling rigs that can be used ranging from a hand-held machine for small diameter holes and also to get into awkward locations to the latest in technology our 3-Phase High Frequency Rigs for larger diameters.
